At Investing for Charity we conduct a rolling recruitment process with an annual major intake during March. Investing for Charity is offering university students and young professionals the opportunity to work with highly-motivated teams, who are personally committed to applying their investment analysis skills towards a positive social cause.

We offer our Trainee Program to prospective Equity Analysts and Charity Analysts, which can be completed through a structured series of workshops or online by correspondence. The Trainee Program aims to teach the principles of investing using fundamental analysis under the value investing philosophy, so that graduates may apply their skills to the operation of Investing for Charity’s public ancillary fund.

Each Trainee will have the opportunity to attend presentations, take part in workshops, and will also have an assigned Charity upon which they will apply their fundamental analysis skills to produce valuable research for the fund. The investment skills trainees gain combine with soft-skills that come from working in teams, meeting deadlines and operating with the highest levels of professional integrity, rigour, knowledge and compassion to set themselves up for future career success.

Equity/Charity Trainees

Equity Trainees and Charity Trainees are are passionate about gaining the professional skills required to make a valuable contribution to their organisations and society at large. Equity Trainees wish to graduate the Trainee Program to become an Equity Analyst whereas Charity Trainees wish to graduate the Trainee Program to become Charity Analysts.

The Equity/Charity Trainee role involves:

  • Attending and actively participating in all workshops, arriving on time and with appropriate materials (and attire, if required)
  • Strong communication skills, with fast response times to enable the program to run smoothly
  • Completing the assignment of charity research within 12 months of enrolment.

The trainee program can also be done by correspondence. This involves:

  • Learning the required skills of fundamental analysis under the value investing philosophy from the online presentations
  • Completing the assignment of charity research within 12 months of enrolment.

Charity Analysts (Note: Prior completion of Trainee Program required)

Investing for Charity is seeking to recruit compassionate and enthusiastic students/individuals for the role of Charity Analyst. We seek to hire bright and capable students/individuals from a variety of backgrounds with a genuine passion and interest in volunteer charity work. Although the role is not discipline or experience specific, any relevant skills or experience will be duly noted.

The Charity Analyst role involves:

  • Working in teams to conduct comprehensive research on a range of charities. Firstly by analysing its financials, then programs and strategy, and finally by conducting sector and risk analysis
  • Presenting research to Investing for Charity Board Directors to communicate findings of your research into potential recipients of the fund’s annual distributions
  • Working closely with the Charities team including Director and fellow Charity Analysts.

Equity Analysts (Note: Prior completion of Trainee Program required)

Investing for Charity is seeking to recruit passionate and highly skilled students and young professionals to the role of Equity Analyst. We seek to hire bright and capable individuals from a variety of backgrounds with a genuine passion and interest in investment analysis under the value investing philosophy. Although the role is not discipline or experience specific, any relevant skills or experience will be duly noted.

The Equity Analyst role involves:

  • Working in teams to conduct comprehensive research on a range of listed companies. Firstly by analysing its financials, then programs and strategy, and finally by conducting sector and risk analysis
  • Presenting research to Investing for Charity Board Directors to communicate findings of your research into potential investments of the funds under management
  • Working closely with the Equities team including Director and fellow Equity Analysts.

Operations/Leadership

Investing for Charity is seeking highly professional and committed students and young professionals to assist in management of its operations. As a highly innovative and growing charity, we require applicants to be passionate about achieving our vision. We seek individuals who are able to add new skills and ideas to our operation. There are a number of different ways to get involved at a University level. Each role will have different requirements, which will be directed by the President of each chapter.

Roles within Operations/Leadership require applicants to:

  • Be highly organised and show a proven track record of commitment to previous extra-curricular activities;
  • Work with integrity and respect towards others and as a team;
  • Possess skills with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Have an ability to multitask and prioritise tasks;
  • Participate in marketing promotions and student recruitment on campus

Subcommittee Member

Subcommittee Members are students and young professionals who are passionate about achieving our vision. These roles are more flexible than the Operations/Leadership roles and are to assist with the general support of the organisation. Each of these roles will be specific to a University chapter and duties will be directed by the President of each chapter.
